My Journey:
Let’s rewind to those bygone days when I was just a little kid, barely tall enough to reach the bathroom sink. In the eyes of a child, the world is a playground, and for me, that playground was my collection of Barbie dolls. It was through these humble dolls that my journey to the hair industry began, a journey that now finds me serving the Southlake, TX area as a multi-talented hairstylist.
Childhood Whimsy: A Brush Becomes a Magic Wand
As a child, the hair on those Barbie dolls had a magnetic pull on my imagination. I would spend hours brushing, braiding, and crafting all sorts of styles for them. Those synthetic strands transformed from one fabulous ‘do to another, under my nimble little fingers. To me, those dolls weren’t just toys; they were my canvas, my way of diving into a world of creativity.
The Road to Discovery
As I ventured into my teenage years, my interest in hair only grew. Friends and family became my first human “Barbies.” They willingly (and sometimes nervously) submitted to my experiments, allowing me to try out different hairstyles I’d seen in magazines and TV shows. It was during these moments that the idea of making a career out of hair began to take shape.
Post-high school, the moment of truth arrived. I had a choice to make: follow the traditional path to college or chase my passion for hairstyling. With my family’s unwavering support, I made the leap and enrolled at the EQ School of Hair Design in Council Bluffs, IA. My exciting and challenging journey into the world of hair and beauty had officially begun.
Learning the Ropes in the Midwest
Beauty school wasn’t just about scissors and combs; it was a comprehensive education that covered everything from understanding different hair types to mastering the art of coloring and maintaining healthy hair. The training pushed me to my limits, but my unyielding passion carried me through.
At EQ School of Hair Design, I was lucky to be surrounded by mentors who were truly masters of their craft. They guided me through the intricacies of hairstyling and shared their invaluable knowledge, providing me with a strong foundation to build upon.
From Chicago to Southlake: A Journey Fueled by Passion
Armed with my newly acquired skills, I took the big step from my hometown in Chicago to the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area, where I now call Southlake, TX, my home. The move was a blend of excitement and challenge, as I adjusted to the unique preferences and pace of the region.
Southlake, with its ever-growing demand for top-notch hair services, was an ideal fit for my career. I quickly recognized that this community had a deep appreciation for personalized and unique hairstyling. From sun-kissed balayage highlights that screamed summer to cozy, warm colors perfect for the fall season, Southlake embraced individuality. It aligned perfectly with my approach to hairstyling – tailoring each hairstyle to reflect the unique personality and lifestyle of my clients.
